DAVID C. SALO, Ph.D. - DIRECTOR
   Coach Salo is the long-time former Head Coach of the Novaquatics Swim Team and founding Head Coach of the Soka University Swim Team. In 2006, Coach Salo was appointed Head Coach of the University of Southern California Swimming & Diving Teams. Dave is a three-time USA Olympic Coach (2000, 2004, 2012) and has also been a member of the USA Coaching Staff for Goodwill Games, Pan American Games and served as the Head Coach of the 2005 USA World Championship Men's Team and 2007 USA Pan American Games Men's Team. Dave also served as Head Coach of the victorious USA Men's team which beat the Australian National team in the 2005 Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool. Coach Salo placed twelve swimmers on the past four USA Olympic teams including Rebecca Soni, Eric Shanteau, Ricky Berens, Aaron Peirsol, Jason Lezak, Amanda Beard, Staciana Stitts, Lenny Krayzelburg, Gabe Woodward, Colleen Lanne and Gabrielle Rose. In 2005, Coach Salo guided Jessica Hardy to a World Record Performance in the 100 meter breaststroke at the World Championships. In 2008, Coach Salo and his Trojan Swim Club placed three swimmers on the USA Olympic Team and coached an additional 6 swimmers that represented their home countries at the Beijing Olympic Games. Salo's athletes included Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder, Rebecca Soni and Olympic Gold Medalist Ous Mellouli who captured the 1500 meter freestyle in Beijing. In addition, Larsen Jensen swam to a Bronze Medal and American Record in the 400 meter freestyle. Coach Salo was nominated for the Golden Goggle Awards for Coach of the Year in 2008. The 2012 Olympic Games were highlighted by the repeat Gold Medal performances of Rebecca Soni (200 Breaststroke) and Ous Mellouli (10K Open Water). CATHERINE VOGT - ASSISTANT COACH    Coach Vogt is in her second year as Assistant Coach for the Univesity of Southern California Swimming & Diving Team. A native of North Carolina, Catherine is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where she was a four year varsity athlete specializing in the distance freestyle events. Catherine later became an assistant coach at Alma Mater prior to moving to Southern California. Catherine has distinguished herself as one of the top women coaches in the United States and she has served on several USA Swimming International coaching staffs, including World Championships and Pan American Games. JEREMY KIPP - ASSISTANT COACH    Coach Kipp is in his third year as an Assistant Coach for the University of Southern California. Prior to his role with USC, Jeremy was the assistant coach for UC Santa Barbara, the perennial champions of the Big West Conference. Jeremy was significant in the development of Pat Carey who competed for UCSB at the NCAA Championships and also was a member of the 2007 United States Pan American Games Team. PAUL DAVIDSON - ASSISTANT COACH    Coach Davidson is in his fourth year with the University of Southern California. Recently Paul has taken on the role of Director of Operations for Swimming and Diving with responsibilities of coordinating all administrative duties. While not coaching the USC Trojans, Paul concentrates his coaching efforts with the Trojan Swim Club program which attracts international post-grad athletes training for the 2012 Olympic Games. KEVIN CLEMENTS - ASSISTANT COACH    Coach Clements is in his second year with the University of Southern California. |
